A company specializing in packaging systems has sourced a portable roll handling cart by Schlumpf from ELS, to manipulate rolls of print materials required for production.

Prior to the Schlumpf cart, rolls were tilted manually and lifted by other manual operated carts. Rolls need to be lifted and rotated from vertical to horizontal for loading and unloading processes.

This battery powered cart came with an on-board charger. Its features include a 3" and 6" mechanically expanding mandrels to accommodate different ID core diameters. Operators use integrated controls to articulate roll orientation from vertical to horizontal, on and off the machines and around their facility. The cart has adjustable stabilizing legs to accommodate varying isle widths and skid/pallet widths, along with side shifting capabilities which allows the cart to align rolls to print machine shafts.
